The Tricky Part
Martin Moran has presented his own work at HERE, Dixon Place and other New York venues. THE TRICKY PART was developed from his memoir to be released by Beacon Press in the Spring of 2005. He was awarded a 2001 Fellowship in Creative Non-Fiction from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). As an actor he appeared in A Man of No Importance at Lincoln Center Theater, as Doctor Kitchell in the Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing and in The Cider House Rules at the Atlantic Theater Company. Other Broadway credits: Ernst Ludwig in Cabaret; Titanic, in which he originated the role of Radioman Harold Bride (Drama League Award); A Christmas Carol; How to Succeed In Business…; Huck Finn in Big River; Oliver!; and Zonker in the national tour of Garry Trudeau’s Doonesbury. Off-Broadway work includes Skeets Miller in Floyd Collins at Playwrights Horizons and The Making of Americans directed by Anne Bogart. Regional: Long Wharf, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Trinity Repertory Company and the American Conservatory Theatre. Film: The Next Big Thing, Private Parts and The West. Floyd Collins
Martin Moran (Skeet Miller) has appeared on Broadway as Huck Finn in Big River, in the revival of Oliver! and most recently in How to Succeed in Business... as Mr. Tackaberry and, occasionally, as J. Pierpont Finch. He played Zonker in the national tour of Garry Trudeau's Dooonesbury. Off-Broadway credits include Larry Gelbart's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 at Manhattan Theater Club, The Making of Americans directed by Anne Bogart and roles at Ensemble Studio Theater, Soho Rep, and Lamb's Theater. Regionally he's performed at the Long Wharf Theater, three seasons with Williamstown Theater Festival, the 1989-90 season at Trinity Rep, and in Tina Landau/Ricky Gordon's States of Independence at the American Music Theater Festival. He played The Mad Hatter in Ensemble Studio Theatre's Once on a Summer's Day and Zonker in the national tour of Doonesbury. Mr. Moran trained and performed at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.
